Over the last year or so, Pete Tong of BBC Radio One has been pinning this artist as one to watch, with a number of beautiful tracks and singles to date, Yotto has been making big waves for himself, and now the Finnish DJ and producer has produced two new tracks, with the ‘Aviate / Crosswalk’ EP on Anjunadeep.

Two years in the making, a number of releases on the Anjunadeep label as well as remixing the likes of Rufus Du Sol and Coldplay, Yotto has been creating a reputation for himself for quality tracks, with a number of them becoming Tong’s Essential New Tunes. As a result of this, he has released a brand new EP with ‘Aviate’ and ‘Crosswalk’, with the first gaining the title of Essential New Tune and it certainly is not up for debate, it’s an absolute stormer.

The iconic Deep House sound surrounds Yotto, a sound which you can instantly pin to him and you can hear it in both tracks on this new EP for Anjunadeep. The deep bass line features in the first track ‘Aviate’, growling away throughout the track while the cool background sounds blend in beautifully, giving it that blissful feeling, an airy atmosphere yet also going in with a chilled out feeling, as the bass line takes a slower tempo to the rest of the melodies. The way it builds, taking you on a journey through the track while oozing out energy and positivity is just brilliant. The melodies are the stand out part for us, with the whole atmosphere created around one track, this is one that will stand out for a number of years. I want more like ‘Aviate’…

‘Crosswalk’ is the second track on the EP and it doesn’t go for that deeper bass line in the start of the track, going for a higher pitched synth sound to really go for something different, with cute melodies once more featuring in this one. while the womping bass line begins to filter in. The cool piano like sounds are one of the nice touches Yotto has brought to the track when producing it in the studio, as the track builds and begins a solid and energetic journey.

In both tracks, Yotto has managed to produce an atmosphere surrounding them, one which is upbeat and energetic, while maintaining that solid Deep House sound which he has become so well known for. Both ‘Crosswalk’ and ‘Aviate’ are quality pieces of work and this is what Yotto is all about, a bright star for the future.
