Porter Robinson has been a mainstay on the dance music circuit for some time now. He has delivered nothing but just insanely good music, with a different tinge and edge to it. And now he is back. However it isn’t as the Porter Robinson that we know. He has arrived under the new ‘Virtual Self‘ alias with the new self titled EP.
Porter’s last release came all the way back in 2014 when he released his wonderful album ‘Worlds‘. This was an album which really set new boundaries and showcased his name to the world. Most recently he toured and performed alongside Madeon for ‘Shelter‘ which saw the release of the track. But no new solo music has arrived until now. The ‘Virtual Self’ EP is a brand new five track EP which really showcases a different side to Porter Robinson, yet it still seems to have his sound attached to it.
‘Virtual Self’ however shows off two different faces. Pathselector and Technic-Angel make up the Virtual Self alias, and you can see the two different sides in action within the tracks. ‘Eon Break’ and ‘Ghost Voices’ were released as teasers, with the higher-velocity BPM coming through with the Pathselector alias in ‘Ghost Voices’, yet ‘Eon Break’ shows off a more melodic, slower style of track. Both ooze out quality and it’s intriguing to see what Porter Robinson has planned for the Virtual Self aliases. It is also a must that you check out the three other tracks on the EP – ‘Particle Arts’, ‘Key’ and ‘a.i.ngel’.
