Steve Angello has been a little quiet since the release of his album ‘Wild Youth’ in the earlier part of this year. He’s been performing all over the world, as well as holding down his residency on BBC Radio One, but in musical terms, production terms, not much has appeared from him. Until now. He has just released ‘Follow Me’ with Still Young.
It came as a little bit of a surprise, as not much had appeared from Size Records (with the label looking like it’s taking a new direction) or Still Young as a matter of fact. Now it was interesting to see that Still Young stated this was a new chapter in their careers as well. So a lot of new movement could potentially be taking place, and it’s all happening around an electro monster. ‘Follow Me’ is sure to make a real mark on the clubs over the coming months.
There’s a real mixture of sounds which have been fused together with ‘Follow Me’. The hard electro sounds have been brought forth in the drop with the hard hitting melodies and big room sounds, with the bass thumping away. The sweetened piano melodies really rivet through the track in the builds, allowing the energy to really mount up and the tension to build, as the changeover begins to head to the electro side of things. And then there is the groovy nature of the track. There seems to be a groove running right the way through, an infectious atmosphere which seems to capture you. All in all, it’s a monster of a track, it’s one which is sure to go down very well. Let’s hope we see a lot more work with follow ups to ‘Follow Me’.
