Phil Kieran – Make A Change EP

Belfast's own Phil Kieran makes his debut on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' Hot Creations label with 'Make A Change'.

Phil Kieran has had a remarkable career to date. From remixing the likes of Depeche Mode to collaborating with the mighty Green Velvet, to crowd-surfing at the second Boiler Room in Belfast. It’s been a career build on hard work and determination, and this is why he has had so much success to this current date.

He is making his debut on Hot Creations with the brand new production ‘Make A Change‘ which features remixes from Nathan Barato and Matrixxman, two coming in from the latter. This all sets the tone for Phil Kieran as we await the release of his upcoming album ‘Blinded By The Sun‘, which is also set to be released on the Hot Creations label, so this new track from Phil just highlights what we can expect to hear from the album.

Make A Change‘ is minimal, it isn’t complicated, there isn’t too much included in it, it’s minimal. Yet this minimalistic feeling to it works so well as the drum machines come together with the synths, and the contrasting vocals finishing off the track joining the two parts together. The energy is raw, it’s a little trippy but as a whole, it works so well. Edgy, this is one that will really get the underground fused crowd shifting and moving.

Following this is a remix from Canadian DJ and producer Nathan Barato and he goes all out with his remix of ‘Make A Change’, bringing in a different tone of drums, while also building up the synth layers and manipulating the vocal sample which runs throughout the track. This leans on the House side of things and it has a higher tempo then the original, this one is big! Matrixxman then delivers two remixes which just showcase the producers Techno edge and boy are they impressive. The soothing melodies which run through the first remix are excellent, while a more dub version has been brought forth for the Warehouse remix. Overall, the two remixes just remind you of the big Techno parties, where you expect to see acts such as Matrixxman.
