Dylan Ragland is better known for his stage name Party Favor. The artist has been one of the stars tipped for big things within the bass scene, with names such as Snails, Getter and Jauz amongst many others. He has been working alongside labels such as Mad Decent, releasing a host of brilliant tracks. But not one of them has a style attached to them. The artist has an ability to change up his sound and create something different with each track. Check out what Party Favor has to say about his new single ‘Caskets’ plus a lot more below.

Tipped as one of the fastest rising stars in the Dance scene, for Party Favor, what does this mean to you knowing that many are supporting your music and that you are building a huge reputation within dance music?

It means everything to be liked by fans and also your peers, I think that is what anyone wants in any career so its amazing and humbling to know that, thanks for making me feel so good lol.

I wanted to take it back to your roots in LA. This is where it all started for you. But what was it that really made you want to produce your own music and become involved within the scene?

I wanted to put my stamp on electronic music and it was the first type of music that I felt an instant connection that I wanted to make it. I always loved all types of music and this was the first time I actually wanted to create it. It was like the universe was calling.

The Bass scene over in the United States is huge, with so many names such as Snails, Jauz, Getter and many others all coming through. What is it like to be included with so many of these names when the scene is being discussed?

Its humbling to be thought of in the same sentence as these guys as they are also my friends. I think it is important to keep evolving with your sound and your performance and it keeps you on your feet and always working hard because there is always someone nipping at your heels.

But what is also eye-catching is that the music of Party Favor has the ability to change, cross-genre and have a completely different direction. It could lean towards the more commercial edge, or the hard hitting bass anthems. Is this the kind of style you wanted to bring? A diverse library of music?

The answer is Yes to all of the above. That makes me happy that you noticed that.

Touching on your music and last year’s ‘Party & Destroy’ EP was a huge success. What was it like for you to team up with the likes of Dillon Francis, Gucci Mane and many other incredible names?

The EP turned out so amazing and I’m so proud and happy with it. It was so cool to have all those people on the album and contributing with me. It was a great way for me to showcase many different styles and sides of Party Favor and working with Dillon was amazing and really fun because he’s someone I’ve looked up to for a long time.

New music has recently arrived with ‘Caskets’ featuring FKi 1st. Tell us a little about the track and how it came about?

‘Caskets’ was a song 7 months in the making. I wanted to work with Njomza and I heard an acapella she had done for another song and I instantly knew I wanted to work on it. We worked on it together and had to come in and re record new vocals and fine tune it to fit the vibe I wanted for the song. It almost didn’t come out because I didn’t know how I wanted to finish it.

Can we expect more new music from Party Favor over the next few months?

So much new music, working on new singles, production for other artists and new remixes, its going to be a busy Fall.

Would there be any artist out there on the scene that you would particularly like to work with within the studio?

Troy Boi.

What is also notable is the serious amount of tour dates you are performing this year. How do you feel about touring and do you think that the pressure of performing can have a serious impact on the health of DJs?

I love touring and it is amazing to learn about all different cultures and walks of life. I think its 100% effects your health. The downside of this job is the travel and it is not healthy to get little sleep and be around dirty airplanes and sick people all the time. As far as performing, you always have to be on and be the life of the party so its hard on your body.

On a final note, give us an overall on what we should expect from Party Favor until the rest of the year? Is there anything you would like to accomplish that’s a “goal” for you to achieve?

More music, more touring, lots of loud shrieking music. I would say an overall goal for me is to win a Grammy, that would be amazing.
