Martin Garrix is the artist behind new alias Area 21 as he reveals ‘Spaceship’ and what to expect from his upcoming album.
Martin Garrix has been making a big impact since he left Spinnin’ Records to try and make it in the dance music world on his own, so far he has been very successful indeed. With the launch of his label STMPD Records, as well as the fact that he has an anticipated album on the well, Martin Garrix has also revealed that he has a new alias, going by the name of Area 21.
In a recent interview with YourEDM before his Ultra Music Festival headlining gig, Martin Garrix was slated to tease a brand new alias, and since then, it has been revealed as Area 21, with the first release from the artist coming under the title ‘Spaceships’. It goes to show you that the artist is hard in work in the studio, not just on his Martin Garrix name, but also under new alias’, and GRX could also be making a return in the near future.
They also touched on his new album, which is hopefully set for release in the near future, though with this, there is no album title yet. Martin did reveal though that he is in the process of making new tracks, while also have around 25 and 30 songs to choose from when he narrows down the tracks for his album.
You are going to hear a lot of new songs tonight. I have no name for the album yet, [though] I have been thinking about different options. However, I’m still in the process of making you songs. I think I have between 25 to 30 songs right now and then we’re going to pick the 13 best ones. I could also release the other ones under a new alias on STMPD Records. I can basically do whatever I want and it feels great. I had two months free just to work in the studio and it felt amazing. – Martin Garrix
