The Great Esquape.
Joris Voorn is one of those renowned figures within the underground dance music scene. He has been churning out quality tunes for years now, not to mention his ability within the DJ booth. And now he has returned with two stunning tracks, all leading straight to the underground, as he delivers ‘The Great Esquape’ EP.
So far this year we have already heard an EP from Joris Voorn, which was also released on his label Green. It came as ‘Dawn’ and it was just some of the purest underground music we had heard, especially the title track ‘Dawn’. Now Joris is back and it comes in the form of his ‘The Great Esquape’ EP, a two track EP which showcases the diversity of the artists once more, with one track leaning towards the upbeat House vibe, and the other bordering on Tech House / Techno.
The first track up on ‘The Great Esquape’ EP is ‘Esquape’ and this is an absolute monster of an anthem. This is the track which borders upon Tech House and Techno, a cross genre feeling track. The deep bass line rumbles throughout the track with the stabbing synth work and the high tempo working very well together. Add in the progressions and the way in which the track builds and falls, and a little vocal sample which just seems to add that extra effect, and you have a main room monster. Plenty of energy included in this one, it’s sure to infect the crowd in a very big way.

Following on from this is the second track, ‘Orange’ which was chosen by Pete Tong as his Essential New Tune, and that doesn’t really come as a shock. This one has an upbeat vibe to it, a lot more positivity and a little bit more airy. The way in which the melodies rivet through the track, bouncing off each other with the chilled bass is just wonderful. You find yourself wanting more from the track and wanting it faster. This is one for the deeper sets, the more intricate setting but it’s still a quality track. Joris Voorn just showcases the different side to ‘The Great Esquape’.
