Dusky have released their latest four track EP and it is immense.

Dusky have become one of the biggest driving forces in the underground dance music scene over the last few years. The reputation the duo have built up over this time has been impeccable, they have delivered a serious amount of quality tunes. Now their latest musical release comes in the form of their ‘Cold Heart‘ EP on their 17 Steps label.

The last time we heard from Dusky was their album ‘Outer’, which featured a number of high profile collaborations and a couple of stand out tracks. This is a duo who have put hard work and graft into their career and sound, as well as their live shows. They have become known for their releases, their four track EP’s, and the next one has arrived. ‘Cold Heart’ brings their iconic sounds, although this one leans towards the Deep House vibe.

The first track to land on the EP comes as the title track ‘Cold Heart‘ and this is a mixture of Tech House vibes and the Deep House region. A pumping bass line flows through the track, with the deep layered synths working their magic on top. The vocal sample rivets through the track, creating a deep atmosphere with the synth work and melodies. This is a track which contains energy, but the energy just streams out a sweet pace. One for the dance floor. ‘Psychic Life Coach‘ edges with the deep flowing melodies, the sweet drum samples, an airy atmosphere, all coming together and connecting. But within the drop the tension really builds and the atmosphere of the track changes to one more edgy. Another sweet little sound from Dusky.

Bowed‘ is the third track on the EP and this one has an electronic Disco vibe to it, one which is highly infectious and rather enjoyable to really get into. The deep flowing bass line keeps the track ticking along as Dusky introduce the melodies over the top to fill out the track. Mixing the two of these together produces something highly energetic and something which you will dance the night away. Definitely a track to pump up the crowd. ‘Balfour Betty‘ is the final track on the EP and one which has a real sensation to it. Brought about by the synths, the melodies which flow through are again, highly infectious, yet have a deep soothing energy to them. Solid work once again in the studio. The Dusky boys have impressed once more with the ‘Cold Heart’ EP.
