Dimensions Festival and the team behind it have become well known for other avenues of work. Their international showcase series, as well as DJ Directory and Dimensions Soundsystem have all become valued parts of the music industry over the last six years. Now the brand is expanding out with the launch of Dimensions Recordings.
Dimensions Recordings is set to be headed up by David Martin and Andy Lemay, the guys behind the Dimensions Soundsystem side of the brand. With Dimensions though, it isn’t one specific genre of music, but a whole range, a diverse range which dabbles from the intergalactic Techno regions, to electro, afro, funk and disco. Everything is touched. And with Dimensions Recordings and their first compilation release, everything is touched.
Dimensions Recordings: An Introduction is the name of the new compilation album and it is set to be spread across three 12″ EP’s. Four tracks on each, they will bring the different sounds of artists that are past or present with the festival series. Mim Suleiman brings the Swahili sung harmonies within ‘Pole Pole’ while Alma Negra brings the afro influenced ‘Onga’ to the first part of the album. Following from this, the likes of Marcos Cabral’s ‘Prochainement’ adds the big room claps and dub infused sounds to the second part, while other artists such as Blacktronika, London Modular Alliance and Upwellings all feature across the second and third parts.
The album is set to be released on July 14th, with digital downloads expected to follow. Get in the groove for Dimensions Festival. Keep up to date with Dimensions Recordings here.
