Claptone – Heartbeat EP

Claptone is at it again with a new single coming from his 'Charmer' album as he releases the 'Heartbeat' EP.

The mysterious producer has been dominating headlines and festival line up’s, as well as throwing down live shows which are attracting thousands of people every week, Claptone is on the rise and is fast becoming one of the biggest artists when it comes to the Deep House chart leading sound.

After his album ‘Charmer’ which blew many people away, Claptone has been on a high but for his next release, he is bringing a track from the album and releasing it as a single, being the title track of a new EP and that track is ‘Heartbeat’. On the new EP we have the single ‘Heartbeat’, while Doorly appear with a remix of ‘Anything’ which also features on the album, while brand new material also appears in the form of ‘Before I Lose My Mind’.

‘Heartbeat’ sits slightly out of what we would have expected from the EP, with the driving piano melodies we always hear from a Claptone track, with vocals from Nathan Nicholson of the Boxer Rebellion also featuring on the track. The deep nature of the track provides a deep groove and a lot of energy, though comparing to the other two tracks on the ‘Heartbeat’ EP, it seems slightly odd.

The second track is the Doorly remix of ‘Anything’ and this provides us with some groovy House vibes with the sweet piano melodies appearing in the track once more, while a deep and cool groovy bass line features in the track alongside some hard beats and percussion sounds. Putting this with the piano melodies is a win win situation, while the vocals which have been lowered in tone and manipulated also fit well with the track.

The final track on the EP is a new original from Claptone as he releases ‘Before I Lose My Mind’, featuring vocals from three piece outfit Say Yes Dog and it captures the style which Claptone is known for. The odd vocals and the deep nature, the piano melodies, they are all there and when the track drops, you have a feeling of what it is all about. This would definitely be a good one to get the pre-party started with, to sort out the night ahead with a few chilled out drinks!
