| by | Bass, Reviews

Chase & Status are one of the acts which have successfully broken through into the mainstream dance music industry, bridging the gap between the underground and commercial scene. Numerous chart hits, sold out shows, a stellar reputation, Chase & Status have brought the Drum N Bass sound to the commercial world in a very big way.

So when the news came along that we could expect a new album, it was music to every fans ears. ‘Tribe‘ was the name of the album and it brings together the number of sounds Chase & Status have been delivering over the years. A number of singles have been released from the album, such as ‘This Moment’ with Blossoms, ‘NRG‘ with Novelist, ‘All Goes Wrong’ featuring Tom Grennan and ‘Control’ with the mighty Slaves. It’s been a huge build up to the album.

And now ‘Tribe’ has arrived with some huge collaborations. Those stated above are just a few to appear on the album. The first track to kick off the album is ‘Big Man Skank’ featuring Mr Vegas. It oozes the reggae dancehall vibes, before the energy really comes through with some serious bass. A wicked track to kick off the album. Kano follows on the second track with ‘Dubplate Original’ as he spits his bars over some impeccable background production work. ‘Tribe’ is an album which brings a number of different influences, sounds and genres together.

Following on from this and throughout the rest of the album, there are a number of stand out tunes. ‘Love Me More’ which features Emeli Sande is a classic Chase & Status chart topper. While it contrasts when they team up with Buggzy Malone for ‘Don’t Stop’, a real grime anthem. And another must listen is the huge banging track ‘Tribes’. This is an album which is going to go down hard. Chase & Status have delivered with ‘Tribe’.
